The Author - Norman Robbins
Norman Robbins, a most prolific successful English playright and actor was first
on stage at three years old and his acting career only ended in 1999 because of ill health.
Born in Yorkshire in the mid 1930s, Norman Robbins worked for the Yorkshire Evening Post
before being awarded a major County Award that allowed him to attend a drama school in Birmingham.
To date, he has written over fifteen full-length plays and twenty-three pantomimes.
Over his forty-year career, Norman Robbins appeared on stage, television and the theatre.
His first professional appearance was with Ken Dodd. Since then he has worked with many
well known comics and comic actors such as Ronnie Barker, Hylda Baker, Morecambe and Wise,
Roy Hudd and Harry Worth.
Norman Robbins television appearances included Last of the Summer Wine,
All Creatures Great and Small, Grange Hill and Crossroads.
But he was in demand for his portrayal of pantomime dames (for which he is fondly remembered)
that he performed for the last twenty years of his professional acting career.
